All current political parties are toxic. Politicians are too consumed with their own political power, self importance and a me me me, I I I attitude to care about the unemployed. They see us as a soft target who can’t fight back. Not only do they despise us, they loath us. Every time they need another 2% up tick in the polls, they publically kick the unemployed which reflects the mean spirited mentality of the electorate towards the unemployed and the whatever it takes attitude of all politicians. A look at characteristics of the psychopathic personality and why narcissism is so rampant in politics will help explain the current Australian political scene. Their personal behaviour over the last 5 years been disgusting. Beyond contempt.
It is TIME to fight back. We must band together and let all politicians know, the unemployed are no longer your personal whipping boy. We’ve had enough. We demand to be treated with dignity and respect. There will now be personal consequences for your political oppression. The quickest and easiest way to band together and get our message across is to all vote the same way. Hit the disfunctional politicians where it hurts, their job. We account for approximately 8% of the voting electorate. As a block, we can unseat almost any State or Federal MP and we can certainly unseat any government. Quote: "It's 100 per cent correct that your worst day in government is better than your best day in opposition".
The simple message we need to get out there is: if you want to keep your job, find us one first.
To have an immediate effect, we need to vote for whichever party isn’t in power at both State and Federal level. Only vote Labor or LNP. To vote any other party would dilute our voting power and effect. Politicians will soon get sick of lasting one term and implement our goals below (ie if you want to keep your job, find us one first). They will also hate to see their state party's lose power. It weakens them overall and gives them a crystal clear picture of, "if I don't help the unemployed, I'm next. I can't afford not too". If you get polled, tell the pollsters you are unemployed and this is the way you’ll be voting in the future.
The goals are:
1/ an immediate increase in Newstart of $50 per week and increases pegged to the pension. This will allow the unemployed to live with dignity, not under home detention in solitary confinement
2/ restoring single mothers benefits
3/ a change in legislation: if a person applying for a job has been unemployed for 12 months or more and can demonstrate the skills to do the job or can be trained within 3 months, must be employed first.
4/ Any new mine must recruit 10% of its workforce from the centrelink registered long term unemployed. Includes mine office staff as well.
5/ No work for the dole. Why work for something you can't live on. We want real jobs not fake jobs
The above change in legislation will benefit all Australians. Whether you are a grandparent worried your grandchildren may never get a job, single mothers who wants a better future for their children, aging workers who lost their job and now being discriminated against, people currently working who are afraid if they lose their job they will not find another and the most important, the youth of Australia. My policy is about avoiding the downward spiral of oppression and depression of the long term unemployed. Every employer knows you can't live on $35 per day for any length of time without effecting your mental health, so they simply refuse to take the chance to employ you. You can breathe on $35 per day but you can't live. Every employee knows this as well. This is why they are saving profusely and causing even more people to become unemployed. Are you taking your lunch to work to save money? You are causing your local sandwich shop owner to go broke and layoff their 6 staff. The dole level has very far reaching consequences which effects working families. It is not all about the unemployed. Are we to become the new Japan or are we already there?
Look what is happening in Spain, Greece and Ireland etc. They are losing a whole generation of youth who have never worked. My policy is about not
losing a generation of anybody. Whether you are youths, single mothers, indigenous or middle aged/older workers. If you want a job, you get a job. The country as a whole will be better off rotating through all workers rather than having a million plus permanently parked on the sidelines. If you believe what is happening in Europe, can’t happen here, think again. You are not that special.
It is quite clear that the unemployed can do little to improve their individual circumstances. It is a fallacy to think if all the unemployed tried harder to get a job they could all succeed. The unemployed cannot search for jobs that are not there. A particular individual might be able to improve their chances of gaining a job, but in macro terms, that will only serve to shuffle the jobless queue. The overall problem is a deficiency of jobs which is a demand rather than a supply issue. Australia supports a government that deliberately creates unemployment by refusing to run budget deficits commensurate with the spending gap left by non-government saving decisions (and outcomes). But if that wasn’t bad enough, we then allow the Government to deliberately force the unemployed to live in poverty and continually punish them for not having a job (via a pernicious activity test regime). And all this in an advanced and very wealthy nation?
Unfortunately, we can't rely on ACOSS to fight our battles. Sadly, they are becoming part of the problem not the solution. They only concentrate on one side of the equation. 1+2 =?. One = dole increase, 2 = training and ? is "what"? I'll tell you what the other side of the equation is.? = bigotry, bias, discrimination and rejection. Definately not a job. Simple fact: There would be far fewer people unemployed if employers & recruiters did not exclude the jobless from consideration for jobs. I've had a recruiter (Hudson) ring and tell me not to apply for their job ads anymore because their clients wouldn't be interested in employing me.
